Major part of the book is the extended color analysis of every palette, as well as of each color individually. The color analysis contains the following parameters and tests:
Tonal contrast test
This tests every isolated color of the palette in conjunction with tonal backgrounds that range from densities of black from 100% down to 5%.
This is a representation of each palette to its complementary colors in black and white backgrounds. In order for the comparison to be more efficient they are set next to each other.
Text contrast in black and white background
In this test we see if the colors of the palette can be used well for text, and has the desired contrast with the background. We check against both white and black backgrounds.
Transparent to white / transparent to black
In this section the colors of the palette are be tested in various transparency settings, so that we can understand how functional they can be under these conditions. By using a transparency scale graded from 0% up to 95% in steps of 5%, we can assess their efficiency in 20 different situations of transparency in black and white fonts. This check is very important especially to digital artists, and designers for digital media.
Color blindness simulation
Perhaps the most weird combination of color representation. Color blindness simulation is a unique effort to represent the colors of every palette in a way that emulates how people with unique vision problems and dischromatopsia will perceive the said colors. Therefore we provide you with the color representation of each color in comparison with each form of dischromatopsia: protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, protanomaly, deuteranomaly and tritanomaly. The representations of the 3 latter are depicted in tonalities reduced by 50% in order to approach the larger possible audience of people with these vision problems.
At the end of every color analysis and for every color of the palette we have the numerical data in 13 distinct color spaces. This will cover almost all your needs in a vast array of applications. The numerical data provided are covering the following color spaces:
