Color Book for Artists and Designers C

The edition color book for artists and designers is a tool for selecting color combinations through researched suggestions by keboto. Throughout the books we analyse all the knowledge and skills that the reader will need, in order to use our color books for artists and designers in the most efficient and optimal way. Purpose of the books is the representation of color combinations taken from the natural and vibrant colours of photographs, and the realistic distinction of the said colors.

Every book contains:

• 1,000+ color pages
• 100 color palettes
• 1,000 different colors
• 1,000,000 possible color combinations
• 13 color space data

These editions are also accompanied by the .ase files of the palettes for the various Adobe applications!

Major part of the books is the extended color analysis of every palette, as well as of each color individually. The color analysis contains the following parameters and tests:

Tonal contrast test

This tests every isolated color of the palette in conjunction with tonal backgrounds that range from densities of black from 100% down to 5%.

Complementary

This is a representation of each palette to its complementary colors in black and white backgrounds. In order for the comparison to be more efficient they are set next to each other.

Text contrast in black and white background

In this test we see if the colors of the palette can be used well for text, and has the desired contrast with the background. We check against both white and black backgrounds.

Transparent to white / transparent to black

In this section the colors of the palette are be tested in various transparency settings, so that we can understand how functional they can be under these conditions. By using a transparency scale graded from 0% up to 95% in steps of 5%, we can assess their efficiency in 20 different situations of transparency in black and white fonts. This check is very important especially to digital artists, and designers for digital media.

Color blindness simulation

Perhaps the most weird combination of color representation. Color blindness simulation is a unique effort to represent the colors of every palette in a way that emulates how people with unique vision problems and dischromatopsia will perceive the said colors. Therefore we provide you with the color representation of each color in comparison with each form of dischromatopsia: protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, protanomaly, deuteranomaly and tritanomaly. The representations of the 3 latter are depicted in tonalities reduced by 50% in order to approach the larger possible audience of people with these vision problems.

Color data

At the end of every color analysis and for every color of the palette we have the numerical data in 13 distinct color spaces. This will cover almost all your needs in a vast array of applications. The numerical data provided are covering the following color spaces:

• HTTP (hexadecimal)
• Web safe
• RGB 0-255
• RGB 0-FF
• RGB 0-0.1
• CMY 0-0.1
• CMYK %
• XYZ
• Yxy
• CIE-L*ab
• CIE-L*CH
• CIE-L*uv
• HunterLab

These books content is a valuable tool exceptionally useful to artists and designers alike, that want to solve the problem of choosing the right color combination for their creations. The palettes presented and analysed in this book can be applied in a vast array of fields, from decoration and architecture to web design and 3D renderings. Of course the books can also be used by anyone who would like to acquire a proper color education and the ability to recognize and appreciate correct color combinations and understand “the why” behind color choices!

Tri-Color Representations

Every Tri-color representation has it’s own color palette and both of them are titled with the same name. The size of each square represents the amount of color that we can use when coloring surfaces. This amount of color isn’t an absolute percentage, which means that we can choose the surfaces (drawings, designs, walls, clothes, product parts etc.) in order to fit better to our needs. Every color inside the tri-color matching representation has at least 10% contrast value from the other colors.
