Renovating a kitchen can be a somewhat tiring task. Whether you are searching for bespoke kitchens, Londontrends or a more personal look, there are a few design ideas which put the fun back into decorating.

Cool, Country Living

Whilst many of us do not reside in a country farmhouse, replicating the style of a country kitchen is easily achieved. One simple method to attain this vibe is to have kitchen units refitted. Select wooden doors and worktops, with simple handles and doorknobs. This look is less contemporary but creates equally bespoke kitchens, Londondesigned or otherwise. To compliment the units, opt for a neutral or gold-accented colour scheme to offset the wood. Whites and creams are great if you are working with a smaller space, as they open up the room and instantly make it feel lighter and brighter. However, this does not mean you cannot have a feature wall.

Wallpaper with vintage patterns or a floral design instantly adds a touch of country chic to the room and ties the whole look together seamlessly. Any leftover pieces are easily used to up-cycle furniture which does not fit in with the theme. Simply paste the pieces onto the back of an old dresser, mismatching patterns if you wish. Ensure that the furniture is sanded and varnished before you commence in order to create a professional look. When purchasing tiles rather than wallpaper, opt for an authentic, brick-coloured tile and if you want to splash out, why not go shopping for an Aga? After all this, it will be like you are in a country farmhouse, even if you live in the middle of a city.

Ahead of the Curve

Of course, country kitchens are not for everyone. Whether you favour bespoke kitchens, Londontrends or vivid designs, there is something for you. For those favouring a contemporary look, this is also effortlessly achieved. When there is a big budget at your disposal, look at altering the layout of the room. Selecting curved units is one way to modernise your kitchen in an instant and create a talking point for guests. It is then a good idea to try and match your units and furniture if possible, producing an overriding feel for the room. However, this does not mean you cannot use your imagination. There are a multitude of worktop designs out there ready to be tried, so choose a vivid colour that no one will be able to miss. Another way in which to use colour in a modern kitchen is to purchase a colourful cooker, fridge or appliance. If you wish to continue the matching theme, select an overall colour scheme for these items. Before you know it, your kitchen will be looking modern, contemporary and a little bit bright too.

The Best of Both Worlds

If both of these looks take your fancy and you cannot quite choose between them, there is a way to combine the two. For instance, pairing modern materials, such as stainless steel or slate, with a country-themed design works well. Placing stainless steel furniture or slate tiles in a room with country wallpaper produces a bespoke, unique look. Additionally, you can use colour to your advantage. Decorate the room with a neutral tone, before adding in reds and golds to insert a touch of country warmth. These colours could be used for the appliances, adding in an accented colour to an overall theme. Finally, fixtures and fittings can be used to your advantage. Placing a farmhouse sink into a modern kitchen takes one of the favourite mainstays of a country kitchen and reworks it in a modern setting. In the world of kitchen design, there really is something for everyone.
