In recent years, wireless technology has become more prevalent as costs continue to decline and an array of portable devices now surrounds us. In years past, everything was attached via cord for both power and data – and in many cases, this is still required at times – but the evolution of technology in various areas has allowed us to do many things wirelessly that were impossible before, such as remote printing. A variety of mobile applications now exist that allow users to interact with their printers from anywhere in the world, and in the following article, we will discuss four of these apps and what each can offer you.
PrintHand Mobile Printing
The PrintHand app for Android allows users to access their printers remotely from anywhere in the world via their phones or tablets. The app currently can be downloaded for free, but must be purchased in order to print any and all documents ($12.95). Users will be able to print images, emails, text and web pages without delay and can access files stored in Google Drive, Dropbox and other cloud services. PrintHand works with virtually all printers and can be used with any printer shared on Mac or Windows systems. A quick configuration process requires virtually no software and allows the app to function on any network printer.

HP ePrint
Designed for use with all HP printers, the HP ePrint app can be found on both Android and iOS app markets for free. Users will be able to access their HP printers that are networked from inside the home, at the office or while on the go; there is no limitation as to your location when printing, so long as you have cellular service. Cloud access is also provided, which lets you access important and shared files even when you are not physically present at a particular location. If you need professional documents printed while away from the home, you can even use the app to find a local printer affiliate who can provide you with copies.

Google Cloud Print
One of the most popular and well-received wireless printing apps, the Google Cloud Print app can be used to access any wireless printer with Google Cloud technology from any Android or iOS device. Users can directly access any and all files stored via Google Drive or Dropbox, which can save you frustration when not at your desk or have a thumb drive handy. Virtually all newer printers are Google Cloud-compliant, so this makes a great application for use in the office, at home and while away from both. Currently available on the Android Marketplace and iTunes App Store, Google Cloud Print is a free download.

PrinterShare
The PrinterShare Mobile Print application works with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled printers in order to provide nearby and remote printing services to most modern printers. Directly from your tablet or phone, you can access any document imaginable – whether it be a spreadsheet, a PDF file or a PowerPoint presentation – and print high-quality copies without hassle. The free version of PrinterShare allows for up to 20 pages to be remote printed; those who wish to use the application without restriction will need to purchase the key ($12.95) for unlimited use.
