Anyone who has children knows that they never seem to have enough room to run around in. Even an apparently spacious property can seem a lot smaller when a youngster decides to run about pretending to be one of their favourite cartoon or film characters. So what are the best ways to give them the space they need to go wild in? The following are a few of the best ideas for doing this which you might want to consider.

Make the Garden Safe

The garden is probably the best place for the kids to go to let off some steam. The problem is that this is a part of the property which often has a lot of hidden dangers in it. Uneven surfaces, prickly plants and ponds are among some of the things you might need to think about changing before you can led your kids play here on their own. Of course, if you get it right then you can turn your garden into a wonderful place for them to live out their adventures safely and without damaging the inside of the house. Adding a flat, grassy area is probably the simplest way of giving them their own outdoor space and maybe you could add some sort of hedge around it to keep them in the right place and safe from harm.

Add a Games Room

What kid wouldn’t want a games room of their own: in fact, I know quite a few grownups who wouldn’t mind one as well. These are clearly great places for fun loving kids to spend a lot of time but the problem is that they might forget to come out of it a lot of days. For this reason, I think that it is important to make it a bright, airy room where other members of the family also feel free to come and go. A conservatory is a nice place to put this kind of games room. Alternatively, if you don’t have anywhere suitable already then maybe you could add on a room especially for this purpose. With the type of house extensions properties can now get, there is plenty of scope for doing this exactly as you want it. I went for big windows and sliding doors along with lots of soft furniture when I did this in my house.

Combine Two Rooms

One of my friends has a couple of kids who used to sleep in adjoining rooms. Apparently they always complained about not having enough space to play in. In the end it was one of the kids rather than the parents who came up with the idea of knocking down the dividing wall and giving them one giant room. This type of alteration needs to be carefully thought out but if you do it right then it could add a lot of extra space for them to play in. I guess an alternative approach would have been to move the both of them into one room and have left the other one free to use exclusively as a games room.

Play in the Attic

I always wanted an attic bedroom when I was a kid and I suppose that in some way I still do. I think that this type of space could be turned into a great games room. Loft conversions are pretty expensive but if your kids are desperately in need of some extra space to let off steam in then it could be a great idea.
