As parents, you must constantly watch over the growth and development of your kids. You need to understand their changing demands and requirements, and should try and provide for them to the best of your ability. What you also need to recognize is that along with your kids, you need to monitor their environment closely to see that it is complimenting their growth and development.

This kind of an environment check usually starts with the child’s bedroom, where you must look out for these things on an annual basis:

Termite Control

To ensure that the child’s room is free of pests and termite, an extensive pest and termite control program is needed. This makes the room clean and sanitized for your child to breathe healthy and live healthy. Moreover, it saves your house from unexpected attack of pests, causing problems in your furniture, food, clothes etc.

AC/ Heating Checks

Your child can only grow and develop well if he gets adequate sleep, and undisturbed, peaceful sleep. After all, research shows that a major portion of the brain development happens when the child is sleeping. So for that, make sure that the room temperature and humidity levels are in control. You should get checks for the air conditioning and the heating done, much before the season arrives. The filters should be cleaned every year to ensure that the child is breathing only clean air.

Upgrades On Furniture

As the child grows physically, it is important to keep upgrading the furniture in the room. The table heights and chairs might need to be changed. There might also be a need for a bigger bed. So you should do all of these checks annually, because children grow very fast, and parents must adjust themselves to that pace very well.

Aesthetic Changes

For children to feel happy in their bedrooms (which often acts as their indoor playground), it is important that you bring about a lot of aesthetic changes on an annual basis. This could mean changing stickers, repainting the room in different colors, adding posters of the child’s favorite cartoons etc. As children grow up, you can also start to put some educational posters, which look nice, and are also useful at the same time.

Changes In Toys

Just like aesthetic changes, children also need upgrades on their toys, based on their growth. Building blocks and basic toys are good for toddlers, while puzzles are good for them when they start school. Similarly, you’ll have to keep getting other board games, and different kinds of toys for the child as per his age and requirement. Toys also help in mental development of the child, and are hence, very important. The child’s logical thinking and reasoning develops more when he is around the right kind of toys and games.

So make sure that you do all of these checks annually in your child’s bedroom, and help him have a good childhood. This will only promote better health, and better growth and development of the child.
