There’s nothing worse than looking around our home and thinking, “This needs some work.” Even those of us who love interior design and DIY can struggle for motivation.

This innocuous looking around soon turns into not wanting to travel home because of our interior, and we might end up spending longer in the bar than we intended to. Of course, it can go the other way, but how many people do you know who go to the gym because they don’t want to go home?

However, you don’t have to look around and think that everything has to be a huge job that requires weeks of work. Yes, you might have some ideas that require larger, project style planning and thought, but others can take as long as it takes to head to the local DIY store, pick up some materials, and head home to do the work.

The great thing about quick and easy home renovation ideas is that they can be equally inspirational in comparison to the bigger projects.

Here are some ideas to help you get inspired, and get started.

Living Space Feature Wall

With money tight and people looking for unique and more eclectic design ideas, feature walls have become a huge feature of many homes in recent years.

If you’re not familiar with a feature wall, the concept is simple. Rather than decorating the whole room, you simply pick one wall, often surrounding a chimney or the wall opposite the main entrance to the room, and create a focal point.

This might be wallpaper or a distinct color of paint, for example. Often, a feature wall will be used as the backdrop for a wall-mounted television, which is usually done with wallpaper, while a painted feature wall tends to be broken up with shelving or perhaps artwork.

A Smarter Bathroom

We tend not to spend much time in our bathrooms, unless we have a huge open shower, wet room style, or a bath that doubles as a Jacuzzi and hot tub. If you don’t have those features, then you’ll probably need to save a reasonable amount of money before you can afford to have them installed.

However, there’s nothing to stop you making small changes to your bathroom. Perhaps you want to invest in a new power shower to really blast your body and wake you up in the mornings, complete with low flow shower faucets so you get the jolt you need without wasting water by the gallon.

You might go for something even simpler, like replacing the taps on your sink unit or bath, or even invest in some decorations to make your bathroom more homely.

Get in the Garden

When we think of the home it is easy to think exclusively about the interior. However, often the garden creates the first impression of your home, and a messy, unkempt garden can drag down even the most luxurious interiors.

Whether you go for the simple solution such as fresh lawn, or opt for an easy landscaping project that will instantly transform your garden, the lift it can give your home has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

Renovate Your Home

Renovation does not have to mean living with scaffolding surrounding your home, dust sheets scattered across every room, or making burly workmen cups of tea every 40 minutes.

Keep it simple, and you’ll find yourself having much fun, and find your home a much more motivating place.
